Internships

Adalah hosts international students and graduates in our offices for legal and media advocacy internships each year. Adalah offers a collegial work environment, challenging and varied responsibilities, and the opportunity to contribute significantly to the efforts of a groundbreaking human rights organization.
 
 
 

Legal Interns

 

Legal interns gain practical experience in legal research and writing, as well as specialized knowledge of the legal status of Palestinians in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). Interns conduct comparative constitutional, administrative, and international human rights and humanitarian law research for Adalah's petitions to the Israeli courts, international advocacy reports, and publications. Interns should obtain grants through their law firms, law schools or other sources.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum commitment of three months.
  • Must have completed at least two years of law school. Law school graduates, LLM students and practicing lawyers preferred.
  • Excellent English writing and legal research abilities.
  • Computer literacy including legal database research on Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, etc.
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights.
  • Previous experience in Israel/OPT strongly recommended.
  • Arabic or Hebrew language skills are helpful.
  • Self-motivated, team-player, able to work under pressure and multi-task.

 

Media Interns

 

We want storytellers! Adalah's media team is looking for creative, visual, media-savvy folks with a commitment to human rights, who can tell the stories of Palestinians in Israel and in the Occupied Territory in new and interesting ways to audiences around the world. We use video, photography, social media, and traditional media outreach to show the "faces behind our cases" in Arabic, English, and Hebrew.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support tri-lingual media team
  • Photo/video documentation of legal cases
  • Updating & developing website & social media
  • Writing/editing texts for media use
  • Assisting coordination with journalists

 

Qualifications:

  • Two-month minimum commitment (preferred)
  • College-level student/graduate of journalism, communications, film, video, related program
  • Excellent English, Arabic/Hebrew helpful
  • Photography & video shooting/editing skills (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro)
  • Computer & web skills 
  • Design & social media skills
  • Previous media work experience a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights

 

No stipends are available for internships. Interns should obtain grants through their universities or other sources.
