Nomads Against Their Will: The attempted expulsion of the Arab Bedouin in the Naqab
The people of Atir–Umm al-Hieran have been waging an uphill battle in the corridors of Israel’s courts and governmental land planning authorities for almost ten years to prove what is obvious in factual, legal, humanitarian and ethical terms. They have been fighting against the state’s plans to displace them based on political decisions to increase the Jewish population in the Naqab. To that end, the state has resorted to all the available tools, legal and otherwise, to remove the obstacle standing in its way: the Arab Bedouin population.
