Adalah Asks Tel Aviv University to Cancel Discriminatory Application Policy

On 24 March 2003, Adalah sent a letter to the Dean of Students at Tel Aviv University, asking the university to cancel a regulation whereby high school graduates, who will not be studying as part of their military service, are prohibited from applying to the university. In the letter, Adalah Staff Attorney Marwan Dalal argued that the regulation discriminates against Palestinian students, citizens of Israel, many of whom apply to university after completing grade 12, but do not serve in the army. Adalah added that the regulation is unreasonable, and does not exist at other Israeli universities.
