PRESS BRIEF | Adalah, other NGOs, submit notes for new regulations limiting the scope of objections to planning and building committees

On 11 September 2022, Adalah, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, Bimkom – Planners for Planning Rights, and the Arab Center for Alternative Planning, submitted notes to the draft of the new regulations that limit to 6-12 pages the length of objections submitted to planning and building committees. The groups argued that the current Israeli government does not have authority to impose these restrictions as it now acts as a transitional government during the elections period. In addition, they argued that these drastic limitations are disproportionate and will seriously infringe on the right to object. The organizations requested to cancel the draft proposal and to refrain from promoting it.
