ADALAH'S NEWSLETTER
Volume 54, November 2008
80 Palestinian Arab law students from various universities and colleges in Israel and Al Quds University participated in Adalah's third annual Law Students’ Conference in Neve Shalom-Wahat al-Salaam on 10-12 October 2008. The students participated in many activities, including a tour of the Separation Wall, lectures by academics and legal practitioners on diverse subjects like land and housing rights in mixed-cites, the October 2000 killings, and workshops on human rights legal issues, such as the rights of people with special needs and prisoners’ rights. Students had the opportunity to share their views on different issues, and several gave their insights on the following question:
Mira Badarni from Arabet Al-Batof, 2nd year law student at Haifa University
"I am an Arab woman studying at university things that don’t help me to advance and don’t support me, and sometimes even hinder me."
Eyad Aburaya from Sakhnin, 3rd year law student at Ramat Gan College
"I have three years’ experience of lectures in Israeli colleges and universities that deal only with issues relating to Jewish society, and very little with issues relating to Arab society"
