8 April 2002 Supreme Court Hears Case On Palestinians Wounded and Killed in Jenin and Nablus On 7 April 2002, Adalah filed a petition before the Supreme Court protesting the denial of medical treatment to the scores of sick and wounded in Jenin and Nablus, the denial of access to ambulances to the areas, and the denial of the right to bury the dead in a respectful manner. The petition was filed by Adalah Staff Attorney Jamil Dakwar on behalf of Adalah and LAW - The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment. The Court scheduled the case for an immediate hearing, which took place at 11:30 today. The three-judge panel was composed of Justices Dalia Dorner, Ayala Procaccia and Edmund Levy. During the hearing, which took two hours, the State of Israel responded both to Adalah's petition and to a related petition filed by Physicians for Human Rights - Israel. After hearing oral arguments by both sides, the Court said it would issue its ruling tonight.
